Lions Club International Honors Late Yinka Bolarinwa with Free Optical Screening for Journalists see(video)


On Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at the Ikeja Airport Hotel in Lagos, Lions Club International commemorated the 10th year memorial service for the late Yinka Bolarinwa, the erstwhile District 404B governor who passed away just five months into office in 2013.

Journalists were invited to a free optical screening exercise organized by the Lions Clubs Multiple District 404 Nigeria as part of the memorial service. The initiative aimed to provide free eye screenings and distribute eyeglasses in honor of Yinka Bolarinwa.



Hosted by Otunba Layiwola Fadairo, Lions International District 404B3 pioneer governor, the event was described as a tribute to "a man who cannot be forgotten." Fadairo emphasized the lasting impact of Yinka Bolarinwa and stated, "It had come to pass."



Kemi Erinbake, speaking at the event, remembered Yinka Bolarinwa as the Lions International face of the future in Nigeria, highlighting his enduring influence even after a decade.


Dr. Ibrahim Jide Ballo, Chairperson of the planning committee, praised Bolarinwa's vision, focus, and ability to turn obstacles into opportunities. He highlighted Bolarinwa's impact on Lionism, stating that his memory lives on through the lives he touched.



Dr. Jide Bello shared insights into Yinka Bolarinwa's multifaceted persona, recounting his passion for professional excellence and journalism during his tenure as the Managing Director of Law Union and Rock Insurance.


The board of directors of Lions Club International in Nigeria, represented by Lion Tope Tycrus, emphasized that Yinka Bolarinwa's legacy would be celebrated, and they urged the media to expose the work of service in Lionism.


Lion Kojo Anthony described Yinka Bolarinwa as a trailblazer and mobilizer, noting his instrumental role in initiating the bifurcation of districts, a vision he unfortunately didn't witness come to life.


Lion Adelaja Adeleye, 2VDG 404B3 Nigeria, referred to Yinka Bolarinwa as a friend, brother, leader, and mentor. Despite his short five-month tenure as District Gov., he was hailed as the best in the Lions Club International.


Sharing a personal perspective, Ln Oluwakemi Abimibola Eribake, 2VDG 404B2 Nigeria, remembered Yinka Bolarinwa as a dreamer dedicated to growing the district and membership, earning him the title of "the face of the future."


Speaking with Societal Concerns, Past District Governor, Lekan Babalola, Olayiwola Fadairo, noted that Yinka Bolarinwa's constitutional impact led to significant growth, with 30 thousand new members and the establishment of African constitutional Area 8.


In conclusion, Lion Ibrahim Jide Bello emphasized that Yinka Bolarinwa lived an impactful service life, leaving an indelible mark on Lionism and the community.
