Police Apprehend Suspected Robber, Seize Firearm in Lagos

In a recent operation, the Lagos State Police Command successfully arrested a 31-year-old man, Johnson Ogunsanya, while recovering a locally fabricated firearm,k according to a statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin.

The arrest unfolded when diligent patrol officers from the Owode Onirin Division noticed five young men surrounding a broken-down truck. Upon investigation, the officers attempted to approach the group, prompting the individuals to disperse hastily. However, one of the suspects, identified as Johnson Ogunsanya, was swiftly apprehended.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin stated on his official X account on Tuesday, "As the officers stopped to ascertain what was going on, the young men fled. One of them, Johnson Ogunsanya ‘m’ aged 31, was apprehended and found with a locally fabricated firearm. Ongoing investigation reveals it was a robbery in progress."

The recovery of the makeshift firearm suggests that Ogunsanya may have been involved in criminal activities, with authorities suspecting a robbery in progress at the time of the arrest.

The Lagos State Police Command commended the vigilant patrol officers for their quick response and urged residents to remain vigilant, reporting any suspicious activities to law enforcement.
