Shokesta Initiative Commends Ogun State CP for Birthday Commitment and Water Project Launch at Oba Correctional Center

In a commendable display of commitment to citizens, the founder of SHOKESTA initiative, Ambassador Oluwakemi Abiodun Soyebi, praised the proactive and dedicated efforts of Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu. Despite his demanding schedule and the celebration of his birthday, Alamutu's swift response garnered appreciation from the SHOKESTA initiative.

Amb. Soyebi expressed gratitude during a surprise visit to the Oba Correctional Center, where the Commissioner of Police had arrived earlier than expected. Notably, Amb. Soyebi wished Commissioner Alamutu a happy birthday and commended his commitment to serving the community.

Speaking on the occasion, Amb. Soyebi emphasized the importance of sustainable initiatives, specifically highlighting the "Hope Water Project." The initiative aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 6, emphasizing access to clean and reliable water. Amb. Soyebi advocated for increased government involvement in aiding correctional centers across Nigeria, pleading on behalf of non-governmental organizations to contribute to this cause.

Amb. Soyebi shared insight into the intentional involvement of inmates in the water project's construction, emphasizing the initiative's dual purpose: providing essential resources and keeping inmates engaged.

The collaborative effort between SHOKESTA initiative, Smiling Simon Greenbuild Foundation, and Nigeria Connects Partners has resulted in the commissioning of the water project at the Oba Correctional Center in Oba village, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Chief Mrs. Nanna Okuribido, President of the Smiling Simon Greenbuild Foundation, highlighted the project's objective — ensuring a constant water supply for the inmates. This joint endeavor seeks to bring hope through a vital resource, marking a positive step toward addressing the needs of correctional centers in the region.

The project's commissioning signifies a milestone in the pursuit of sustainable development and humanitarian efforts, showcasing the impact that collaborative initiatives can have on the lives of those within correctional facilities.
