Tragic Incident Unfolds: Man Confesses to Fatal Stabbing Over Unpaid Loan

In a shocking turn of events, 28-year-old Onuh Thomas Stephen confessed to fatally stabbing his friend, 23-year-old Anayo Francis, during a heated argument over an alleged unpaid N7,000 loan. The incident occurred in Ogun State, and Stephen claimed that the influence of drugs, specifically marijuana, played a role in the tragic event.

According to reports, Francis had repeatedly demanded repayment of the loan, becoming infuriated when Stephen, who worked in scaffolding, refused to return the money despite receiving his salary. The confrontation escalated into a physical altercation, during which Stephen, occupying a single room, reportedly grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed Francis in the chest.

Police spokesperson SP Omolola Odutola confirmed that Francis was rushed to a hospital but tragically pronounced dead. Stephen, originally from Benue State, narrated that financial struggles, compounded by owing money to various individuals, led to tensions with Francis. The suspect now faces potential imprisonment or life sentence if found guilty in court for the alleged murder.

The heartbreaking incident underscores the devastating consequences of financial disputes, highlighting the need for conflict resolution and the prevention of violence in such situations.
