NIGERIA POLICE FORCE APPREHENDS 67 SUSPECTS NATIONWIDE IN ONGOING ANTI-CRIME OPERATIONS

Nigeria Police Force Apprehends 67 Suspects Nationwide in Ongoing Anti-Crime Operations


In a proactive move to combat rising criminal activities, Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D, NPM, has overseen the successful arrest of 67 suspects by the Nigeria Police Force Intelligence Department Tactical Teams - DFI-IRT and DFI-STS. The apprehended individuals are involved in various crimes, including kidnapping, gunrunning, one-chance, armed robbery, and banditry.



Among the significant achievements, the Police recovered 5,454 rounds of live ammunition, 300 live cartridges, 50 empty ammunition shells, 68 rifles, and 33 ATM cards. Notably, three suspects linked to a gunrunning syndicate responsible for the Christmas Eve attack on Plateau State villages are in police custody, providing crucial information for ongoing investigations.



In a related development, four suspects were arrested in connection with a bank robbery in Otukpo, leading to the recovery of nine AK-47 rifles. Five other suspects met their match during a confrontation with Police operatives in Taraku village, Buruku LGA of Benue State, admitting their involvement in criminal activities and implicating other gang members still at large.



Inspector-General Egbetokun emphasizes the unwavering commitment of the Police to safeguarding citizens, pledging relentless efforts to eradicate criminal elements and activities nationwide. The Force remains dedicated to creating a secure environment for all Nigerians.
