NNPC DISMISSED RUMOURS OF IMPENDING FUEL PRICE HIKE

NNPC Dismisses Rumors of Impending Fuel Price Hike

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has quashed speculations circulating in the media about an imminent increase in the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol. Contrary to rumors suggesting a potential surge to N1,200 per litre, the company asserts that such a move is not part of its plans.

In an official statement released on Wednesday, NNPCL's Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, labeled the insinuations as baseless rumors and urged Nigerians to dismiss them entirely. Soneye reassured the public, stating, "NNPC Ltd assures the public that there is no imminent increase in the cost of Premium Motor Spirit, commonly known as petrol."

He went on to emphasize that there is no need for panic buying or hoarding of the product due to fears of a price hike. Soneye affirmed, "Motorists nationwide are advised against engaging in panic buying, as there is presently ample availability of PMS across the country."

This statement aims to dispel any concerns among Nigerians and reinforces the commitment of the NNPCL to maintaining stability in fuel prices, providing assurance to consumers across the nation.
