The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, Olusola Odumosu, has emphasized the need for active intelligence gathering to address the prevailing security challenges in the FCT.

Addressing officers and men during a briefing at the Command's headquarters in Wuse, Zone 5, Abuja, Odumosu urged personnel to intensify efforts in activating the intelligence architecture. He stressed that criminals are not elusive ghosts but members of the communities where the NSCDC operates.

"Criminals are members of the various communities we live in. We must, therefore, fully activate our intelligence architecture to identify them and ensure they are brought to book," stated Odumosu.

Expressing concern over the surge of bandit activities, especially in communities near the FCT hinterlands and borders shared with Niger, Kaduna, and Nasarawa States, the Commandant called for a collective effort to combat insecurity.

Odumosu emphasized the importance of collaboration and cooperation between NSCDC personnel and the public for a seamless exchange of necessary information.

"While our ongoing battle against vandals continues, we must focus our attention on the issue of kidnapping that has become prevalent in the FCT. Working closely with FCT residents is crucial to obtaining credible information and real-time intelligence," added Odumosu.

Acknowledging the support of the FCT Minister, Barr Nyesom Wike, Odumosu assured residents of concerted efforts to bring an end to kidnappings, vandalism, and other criminal activities in the FCT.

"Security is everybody's business, and not that of the government or security agencies alone. It is time to join forces to restore peace and security to the FCT," urged the Commandant.

Residents were encouraged to remain vigilant and security-conscious, reporting any suspicious movements or activities to the NSCDC for prompt intervention.
