PRESIDENT TINUBU RICE PALLIATIVE SPARK DISTRIBUTION AMIDST CONFUSION

President Tinubu's Rice Palliatives Spark Distribution Amidst Confusion

Over 1.3 million families anticipate the distribution of rice palliatives following President Bola Tinubu's approval. The National Assembly amended the 2022 Supplementary budget, allocating N500 billion for palliatives to ease the impact of fuel subsidy removal.

Each senator received N200 million, while House of Representatives members got N100 million to procure rice. Lawmaker Dekeri Sunday Anamero confirmed receiving 2,400 bags for his Etsako federal constituency, emphasizing the rice's origin from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security.

Anamero revealed Tinubu's directive for N100 million worth of rice to each House member and N200 million for each senator. He urged constituents to verify distribution in their areas.

If all lawmakers follow Anamero's lead, 1,387,200 25kg bags will be distributed nationwide. Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) calls for transparent distribution, questioning senators who deny receiving palliatives.

MURIC's Prof. Ishaq Akintola highlighted the importance of lawmakers openly showing received goods, expressing concern over conflicting statements. The confusion raises questions about the Senate's unity in supporting government initiatives to alleviate public hardships.
