 President Tinubu Suspends NSIPA CEO Amid Financial Misconduct Allegations


In a decisive move, President Bola Tinubu has suspended Halima Shehu, Chief Executive Officer, CEO of the National Social Investment Programme Agency NSIPA , following allegations of financial malfeasance.

Channels reported that Akindele Egbuwalo, the current national N-Power programme manager, has been appointed as the acting CEO, pending the conclusion of investigations into the allegations.


A senior official within the presidency confirmed this development, stating that Shehu was observed clearing her desk earlier on Tuesday under the watchful eyes of stern-looking Department of State Services (DSS) personnel.


Shehu, whose appointment was endorsed by the Senate on October 18, 2023, previously served as the national coordinator of the Conditional Cash Transfer, CCT programme. Her professional background also includes employment with the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development from 2017 to 2022.


The suspension comes amid heightened scrutiny of financial management within key government agencies, signaling President Tinubu's commitment to upholding transparency and accountability. Investigations into the alleged financial misconduct are expected to shed light on the specifics surrounding Shehu's suspension.
