SUPREME COURT DISMISSES PDP APPEAL IN BENUE GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION CASE

Supreme Court Dismisses PDP's Appeal in Benue Governorship Election Case

In a decisive ruling on Monday, the Supreme Court delivered a verdict dismissing the appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Titus Uba, in the Benue governorship election.

The governorship election petition tribunal and the Court of Appeal in Abuja had previously upheld the victory of Hyacinth Alia as the duly elected governor of Benue State. The Supreme Court's decision marks the conclusion of the legal battle, solidifying Alia's status as the confirmed governor.

The dismissal follows a series of legal proceedings and affirmations, bringing a close to the electoral dispute that has lingered since the polls. The apex court's ruling affirms the decisions of the lower tribunals and further cements Hyacinth Alia's position as the rightful occupant of the governor's seat in Benue State.

This legal development is expected to have significant implications for the political landscape in Benue, as the focus now shifts from legal challenges to governance and the fulfillment of campaign promises by Governor Hyacinth Alia and his administration.
