EMEFIELE: FORMER SGF TESTIFIES AGAINST EX-CBN GOVERNOR IN $6.2M FRAUD TRIAL

Former SGF Testifies Against Ex-CBN Governor in $6.2m Fraud Trial

At the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama, Abuja, former Secretary of the Government of the Federation, SGF, Boss Mustapha, revealed startling details implicating the immediate-past Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele, in a $6.2 million fraud case.

Boss Mustafa Vs Godwin Emefiele

Mustapha, appearing as the fourth prosecution witness, disclosed that the funds were released from the Central Bank of Nigeria in February 2023 using forged documents. He debunked claims that the documents originated from the President or his office, citing inconsistencies such as the absence of the presidential seal and irregular language.

Moreover, Mustapha emphasized that the Federal Government had no involvement with foreign election observers, further discrediting the purported directives used to authorize the payment.

During cross-examination, Mustapha clarified that his office did not send staff to banks to receive cash, dismissing it as an irregular practice.

In a related development, Ogbu Michael, a Deputy Director at the CBN, admitted authorizing the payment but stated ignorance regarding the identities of those involved. He acknowledged that the payment was made in cash without proper authentication of the recipient's identity.

The trial, presided over by Justice Hamza Muazu, adjourned until March 7, 11, and 25 for further proceedings, underscoring the gravity of the allegations and the complexity of the case.
