Factory Worker Remanded for Allegedly Raping Co-Worker to Death at Poultry Farm


In a shocking incident, 35-year-old factory worker James Emmanuel has been remanded in prison by an Akure Magistrates Court in Ondo State, following allegations of raping his 55-year-old co-worker, Deborah Abiodun, to death.



The harrowing incident occurred on a poultry farm in the Oke-Odu area of Akure around 11 pm on January 2024. According to reports, James allegedly assaulted Deborah, and after committing the heinous act, he further attacked her by striking her forehead with a stone. The lifeless body was then callously disposed of in a waste pit.


During the court proceedings, Inspector Anwana Josephine, the prosecutor, presented the grim details of the case. The court, presided over by Magistrate F. A. Aduroja, ordered the remand of James Emmanuel in prison pending further legal actions. The case has been adjourned to March 27 for continued investigation and hearings.


The community is left in shock and mourning as they grapple with the tragic loss of Deborah Abiodun. The legal process will unfold in the coming weeks, shedding light on the circumstances surrounding this gruesome crime that has sent shockwaves through Akure, Ondo State.
