Governor Sanwo-Olu Explores Dalian's Urban Development, Seeks Acceleration of Fourth Mainland Bridge Project in China




In a bid to strengthen ties and explore urban development initiatives, Governor Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu embarked on a journey from Beijing to Dalian, a prominent city on China's northeast coast known for its aquatic products and extensive coastline.

During his visit to Dalian, Governor Sanwo-Olu, accompanied by government officials, toured the renowned Dalian Urban Planning Exhibition Centre in Xigang District on Saturday. The three-floor exhibition center showcased the city's historical transformations, current conditions, and outlined its blueprint for future development.


The Exhibition Centre offered a glimpse into Dalian's past, its evolution to the present day, and a projection of its immediate future, providing valuable insights for the visiting delegation.


In a related development, Governor Sanwo-Olu utilized his stay in China to address the long-anticipated Fourth Mainland Bridge project in Lagos. Speaking during a high-level meeting with the President and management of the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) in Beijing, he reiterated his commitment to enhancing transportation for millions of Lagos residents through the legacy project.

Governor Sanwo-Olu commended CCECC for their significant contributions to infrastructure development in Lagos and urged the corporation to ensure the groundbreaking of the Fourth Mainland Bridge project in March. During the meeting, he emphasized the importance of a continuous partnership with CCECC, viewing them not merely as contractors but as crucial partners in the state's ongoing development.


“The Fourth Mainland Bridge is one of our legacy projects. We are committed to that project. We want to do that project like yesterday," stated Governor Sanwo-Olu during the meeting. "I have to deliver this project. I got only three years to go and I have to deliver it."


The Governor expressed optimism about starting the project in March or April, seeking collaboration with CCECC to secure the necessary funding and ensure the timely commencement of this transformative infrastructure initiative.
