Governors Call for President Tinubu to Resign Amidst National Crisis

Governors elected under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP have called for the resignation of President Bola Tinubu, citing the inability of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC to effectively address the nation's challenges.

In a statement released on Saturday, February 17, the PDP Governors Forum’s Director General, Cyril Maduabum, emphasized the non-partisan nature of the hardship faced by Nigerians, asserting that "a hungry man is an angry man."

The statement highlighted the responsibility of the federal government in mobilizing all sectors for sustainable solutions, warning that if the APC-led administration cannot fulfill this duty, it should step down gracefully.

Criticism was directed towards APC officials who disparaged the PDP Governors' intervention, with emphasis placed on the need for the current administration to focus on problem-solving rather than blame-shifting or propaganda.

Furthermore, the PDP governors defended their record, asserting that states under their governance have excelled in developmental policies, ensuring regular payment of salaries and addressing key issues such as food crises exacerbated by federal matters like insecurity and exchange rates.

While acknowledging President Tinubu's efforts, the governors stressed the urgency of the situation and expressed hope that his leadership would lead Nigeria out of its current challenges.

The call for Tinubu's resignation underscores the deepening political tensions amidst widespread dissatisfaction with the state of affairs in Nigeria, setting the stage for potential shifts in the country's leadership dynamics.
