Solanke's illustrious journey began at the Olowogbowo Methodist School for his elementary education, followed by Odogbolu Grammar School, Ogun State. He later pursued his passion at the University of Ibadan, obtaining a diploma certificate in drama. Joining the Department of Dramatic Arts at the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) in 1969 marked a pivotal moment in his career trajectory.

Venturing to the United States, Solanke founded *The Africa Review*, a drama group dedicated to celebrating African culture, notably donning Yoruba costumes during performances. His storytelling prowess earned him acclaim, particularly in Los Angeles, California, where he established himself as a "master storyteller."

Returning to Nigeria in 1986, Solanke collaborated with the Nigerian Television Authority, spearheading innovative programs like *Storyland*, seamlessly blending storytelling with artistic performances. His contributions to music, including hits like *Onile Gogoro* and *Eje ka jo*, alongside albums such as *In the Beginning* and *Storyteller*, cemented his legacy as a cultural luminary.

Solanke's impact extended to the silver screen, starring in classics like *Kurumi*, *The Divorce*, and *Siswe Bansi's Death*. Notably, his narrative skills were showcased as the voice of the narrator in the Nollywood movie *Jagunjagun*.

As one of the pioneer members of the Orisun Theatre Group, founded by Wole Soyinka, Solanke's contributions to Nigerian arts and culture remain unparalleled. His indelible mark on Nigerian television, from *The Bar Beach Show* to *Sango*, leaves an enduring legacy cherished by generations.

In honoring Jimi Solanke's memory, may his soul find eternal peace. 🙏
