The intense manhunt and unwavering pressure exerted by the police led to a breakthrough in the case. The alert and prompt response from the police ensured the immediate rescue of the infant.

In his statement, Hundeyin stated, “Due to intense manhunt and pressure from the police, the buyer in the early hours of today abandoned the baby in Alade Market, Shomolu.” He further added, “The baby was promptly rescued by the police.”

The relieved parents positively identified their eight-month-old child, and she has since been reunited with her family. The joyous reunion is a testament to the dedication and efficiency of the Lagos State Police in swiftly resolving such distressing cases.

However, the hunt for justice continues as the buyer, responsible for this heinous act, remains on the run. Hundeyin emphasized that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the perpetrator and bring them to face the consequences of their actions.

This harrowing incident unfolded when a maid named Ruth Okezie allegedly sold the baby on Saturday, February 3, 2024.
