Tragic Tale Unfolds: Widow of Slain Monarch Reveals Heart-Wrenching Moments Before His Death


In a chilling account, Yetunde Ogunsakin, the grieving widow of the late king of Esun Ekiti in Ajoni, Ikole Local Government Area, Ekiti State, shared the haunting details of her last conversation with her husband. The monarch had called her, expressing hunger and requesting her to prepare a meal for him before he reached the palace.




As the hours passed without his arrival, anxiety set in for Mrs. Ogunsakin. When she eventually called his phone, there was no answer. The shocking truth unfolded later, as news broke that he had been attacked and killed by unidentified gunmen along with another monarch, the Onimojo of Imojo.


Chief Niyi Ojo, a community leader from Esun Ekiti, added, "I was shocked when I was called around 4:30 to be informed that he has been attacked by assailants and that he was killed in the process with a fellow Kabieyesi."


In response to this tragic incident, Micheal Ogungbemi, Chairman of the Ajoni LCDA, passionately urged the Nigerian government to empower local security officers with the license to carry arms, emphasizing the need to confront militants threatening the safety of residents.


The incident, which occurred between Oke-Ako and Ipao-Ekiti in Ajoni Local Government Area, highlighted the vulnerability of traditional leaders. Sources revealed that another monarch, the Alara of Ara in Ikole LG, narrowly escaped a similar fate when armed men attempted to forcefully take them away.


Expressing deep concern, President Bola Tinubu also condemned the killing of these two traditional leaders, echoing the need for urgent measures to address the escalating security challenges in the region."
