Gov Zulum Extends Relief Efforts: Food Aid to 52,000 Families and N100m Support for Youth and Farmers.

Alleviates Hardship with Comprehensive Relief Measures Amid Economic Challenges





Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State has spearheaded a massive relief effort, distributing food aid to over 52,000 families across seven local government areas in Southern Borno. The initiative aims to alleviate the economic strain exacerbated by inflation and prevailing economic difficulties in the country.



Supervised by Governor Zulum himself, the distribution took place at the Biu township stadium, benefiting communities in Biu, Shani, Chibok, Askira-Uba, Kwaya Kusar, Bayo, and Hawul. The governor emphasized the importance of utilizing the aid to cushion the economic hardships faced by the recipients.

Governor Zulum stated, "Each beneficiary will collect a 25kg bag of rice and a 25kg bag of maize," ensuring that essential food items reach those in need. The distribution was meticulously organized, with specific allocations to each local government area based on their respective needs.

Palliatives


In addition to the food aid, Governor Zulum demonstrated his commitment to supporting agriculture by distributing over N100 million to 2,000 youth and women farmers. Each beneficiary received N50,000 to enhance their farming activities and contribute to food security in the state.



Addressing the ceremony, Deputy Governor Umar Usman Kadafur urged recipients to make effective use of the resources provided by the government, emphasizing the importance of agricultural empowerment in sustaining livelihoods.


Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume echoed these sentiments, urging constituents not to sell the palliatives but to utilize them for their intended purpose. He commended both Governor Zulum and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for their efforts in providing relief to the people of Borno State, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.


In a related development, Governor Zulum unveiled water projects in Azare, the headquarters of Hawul local government area, further underscoring the government's commitment to addressing essential infrastructure needs across the state. The water tank, powered by a solar borehole, will ensure access to clean water for the residents of Azare and its environs, enhancing their quality of life.
