EXCLUSIVE: LAGOS POLICE ARREST COUPLE IN "ONE CHANCE" ROBBERY

Exclusive: Lagos Police Arrest Couple in "One Chance" Robbery Scandal

In a recent crackdown on criminal activities, the Lagos State Police Command has apprehended a couple allegedly involved in the infamous "One Chance" robbery scheme. Identified as Joseph Okoro, 54, and Tina Nebeife, 40, the duo faces charges of kidnapping and extortion.

According to reports from P.M.EXPRESS, the couple's misdeeds came to light when they were intercepted by the Commissioner of Police Special Squad 2 at Salvation Bus Stop in Opebi. Their victim, Saida Kazeem, unsuspectingly entered their Toyota Camry (registration number AKD 992 JC) at 6:00 am, intending to travel to Yaba. However, she soon found herself diverted to an undisclosed location where the couple demanded ransom.

In a desperate attempt to escape, the criminals pushed the victim from their moving vehicle, causing her injury. Undeterred, the police pursued and apprehended Okoro and Nebeife, although a third accomplice, Uchechukwu Ileanyi, managed to evade capture.

The recovered vehicle now stands as evidence against the couple, who have been arraigned before the Ogba Magistrate Court under the Criminal Laws of Lagos State. Despite pleading not guilty, they have been granted bail set at N200,000 with stringent conditions.

While the defendants await trial in custody at Kirikiri town's correctional center, concerns arise about the swift return to criminal activities once they secure their release. With the prosecution's burden of proof looming, the outcome remains uncertain, highlighting the challenges in combating such crimes effectively.
