GOVERNOR SANWO-OLU ELEVATES GBOYEGA AKOSILE TO SPECIAL ADVISER MEDIA AND PUBLICITY

Governor Sanwo-Olu Elevates Gboyega Akosile to Special Adviser, Media and Publicity

In a move aimed at bolstering his administration's communication strategy, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has announced the elevation of Mr. Gboyega Akosile, his erstwhile Chief Press Secretary (CPS), to the esteemed position of Special Adviser, Media and Publicity.

The appointment, effective immediately, was made public through a letter dated March 13, 2024, and signed by the Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro.

"I wish to convey the approval of Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Governor of Lagos State, of your new appointment as Special Adviser, Media and Publicity (Non-Cabinet Rank) to Mr. Governor. The appointment takes effect from 13th March 2024 to 21st May 2027," the statement affirmed.

Acknowledging the pivotal role expected of Akosile, the government emphasized the need for unwavering dedication, diligence, and selflessness in executing his duties to uphold the confidence vested in him.

Before his recent promotion, Akosile had served as the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Sanwo-Olu. His tenure extends back to the 2019 gubernatorial campaign, where he initially assumed the role of Media Adviser. Through subsequent appointments, including Deputy Chief Press Secretary and Chief Press Secretary during the Governor's first term, Akosile has demonstrated a profound commitment to effective communication and media management.

Akosile's academic prowess underscores his suitability for the role, holding Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees in Theatre Arts from the University of Ilorin and University of Lagos, respectively. Additionally, he earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the Obafemi Awolowo University between 2008 and 2010.

With over two decades of immersive experience in journalism, media, and perception management, Akosile brings a wealth of expertise to his new position. His mandate aligns closely with the Government's THEMES+ development agenda, tasked with sustaining effective media and perception management strategies to advance the administration's objectives.

As Special Adviser, Media and Publicity, Akosile is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping public discourse, enhancing the visibility of Governor Sanwo-Olu's policies, and fostering transparency and engagement with the citizenry.
