IWD: First Lady Advocate for Investment to Propel National Development


 Oluremi Tinubu, the wife of the President, emphasized the critical need for substantial investment in women to accelerate the nation's development. Asserting that greater investment in women is pivotal to economic growth.

The First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu underscored the theme of this year's International Women's Day, "Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress," as a resounding call to action. She urged for collective efforts to equip women with education, resources, and opportunities to unleash their full potential, viewing such investment not as charity but as a strategic imperative for Nigeria's future. 


Additionally, Kano State Commissioner for Women's Affairs, Children, and the Disabled, Hajiya Aisha Saji, disclosed plans to empower over a thousand women across the state's local government areas with grants and support services, including survivors of gender-based violence and women living with HIV/AIDS. Saji affirmed the ministry's commitment to enhancing welfare packages for vulnerable populations and intensifying efforts to reduce infant and maternal mortality through continuous sensitization programs.
