Lagos Police Swiftly Respond to Arrest Four for Drug Abuse

The Lagos State Police Command has taken decisive action in response to reports of unlawful activities in Harmony Estate, Aboru. Following complaints from residents regarding gambling, drug abuse, and harassment by a group of young men, police operatives from Area P, Alagbado conducted a thorough surveillance operation.

Afolabi Joshua, Isaiah Omogbolahan, Oluwadamilare Kayode, and Friday Anamaliu

On Thursday, February 29, 2024, the police swiftly moved in to apprehend suspects engaging in these activities. Despite facing resistance from some individuals, who blocked roads and assaulted officers, the police successfully arrested eight suspects and seized substances believed to be drugs.

Upon further investigation, four individuals were found not to be involved and were subsequently released. However, Afolabi Joshua, Isaiah Omogbolahan, Oluwadamilare Kayode, and Friday Anamaliu were arraigned at the Ejigbo Magistrate Court on March 1, 2024. They have been remanded in prison custody until March 25, 2024.

Contrary to rumors circulating on social media, alleging that the suspects were arrested for playing Ludo, the police have clarified that they were apprehended for serious offenses related to drug abuse and unlawful assembly.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Lagos State Command, emphasized that the police will not be swayed by misinformation and will continue to prioritize public safety and uphold the law.
