LAGOS STATE "OUNJE EKO, FOOD DISCOUNT MARKET" FACES CRITICISM OVER PRICING DISCREPANCIES (VIDEO)

Lagos State's "Ounje Eko, Food Discount Market" Faces Criticism Over Pricing Discrepancies

In a bid to alleviate the burden of food prices on residents, the Lagos State government launched the "Ounje Eko, Food Discount Market" initiative, promising a 25% discount on staple products. However, the program's effectiveness has come under scrutiny as citizens express disappointment over pricing inconsistencies.

The initiative, aimed at providing affordable food options to communities, was expected to kickstart a positive change in local economies. However, reports from various Local Government Areas and local council development areas reveal a stark contrast to the promised discounts.

According to feedback from residents, the cost of items offered at the discount market appears to be on par or even higher than prevailing market prices. Many individuals have voiced their concerns, urging the state governor to fulfill the promises made to the community.

In a video circulating online, a customer lamented the exorbitant prices of food items, highlighting an instance where beans were sold at ₦1000 for a 5kg bag in Ojodu local government area. Such instances have led to disillusionment among residents who had high hopes for the initiative.

The initial anticipation surrounding the "Ounje Eko, Food Discount Market" has turned into disappointment for many, with several individuals leaving the market feeling disheartened by the apparent lack of affordability. As citizens continue to appeal to the state government for action, the effectiveness of the initiative hangs in the balance, raising questions about its implementation and impact on the local community.
