APC Grassroots Women and Youth Organization Voices Concerns in Open Letter to FCT Minister

In an open letter addressed to the Honorable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the APC Grassroots Women and Youth Organization (GYW) expressed deep concerns over what they perceive as the exclusion of FCT-APC stakeholders in the FCT administration.

14th March, 2024.

The Honorable Minister,

Federal Capital Territory (FCT)

FCDA, Area 11

Garki, Abuja.

Dear Sir,

LETTER OF PROTEST AGAINST EXCLUSION OF FCT-APC STAKEHOLDERS IN THE FCT ADMINISTRATION.

The Grassroot Youths and Women (GYW) is a Socio - Political organization based in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). We have been involved in the political evolution of the APC in the FCT right from its inception and we have played very vital roles in the political engineering of the APC grassroots.

We worked as a Support Group in the last Election that ushered in the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

We use this opportunity to appreciate the President for giving a ministerial slot to the FCT APC for the first time in the democratic history of the FCT.

We have being following your administration with keen interest, and wish to acknowledge your great strides in the structural development of the FCT.

However, a critical observation of the political appointments by your administration so far, will make one to infer that YOU DO NOT WANT TO HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE APC STAKEHOLDERS IN THE FCT, and to us in the APC FCT family, this is not acceptable, as the office you occupy is based on the APC platform.

We therefore use this medium to humbly appeal to you to ensure the inclusion of the APC FCT stakeholders in your administration. The lack of which is causing political hiccups between the stakeholders and the grassroots of APC in the FCT. We believe that one of the cardinal principle of your administration is the fostering of socio-political harmony in the FCT and we in the APC family in the FCT are ready to join hands with your administration to ensure the realization of this aim and much more, we only beg you to recognize us in your scheme of things in the FCT.

To this end we call on your office to look into the recent appointments made by you, where only PDP members were found worthy of consideration as Coordinators of key agencies in the FCT with total exclusion of the APC political family in the FCT. Gestures like this only reinforces the view in some quarters that your administration is on a mission to bury the APC in the FCT and that you are the favoured undertaker for this job. We earnestly hope and pray that this is not true.

Honorable Minister Sir, before now, the FCT minister has always being the unifying factor in the political sphere of the ruling party in the FCT and noting that APC as at today, is the ruling party, the bedrock of your power in the FCT, a feat which was made possible as a result of our sweat and resources deployed against all odds during the 2023 General Elections. Our prayer is for you to create a conducive environment for APC FCT stakeholders to have a sense of belonging in the FCT administration under you, in order to provide relief for the teeming grassroots of the FCT. We refuse to be slaves in our own palace.

While anticipating your prompt response, please accept the assurances of our most esteemed regards.

Yours Patriot,

ADEOSUN KEMI S.

Coordinator, Grassroot Youths & Women in the FCT.

APC Youths Campaign Office 14th March 2024, the letter commended the President for allocating a ministerial slot to the FCT APC for the first time in its democratic history. However, it pointed out a troubling trend in the political appointments made by the FCT administration, which seemed to overlook APC stakeholders in favor of individuals affiliated with other political parties.

The GYW emphasized their significant contributions to the APC's political evolution in the FCT, including their active involvement in the previous election that brought the current President into office. They urged the Minister to rectify this perceived imbalance and ensure the inclusion of APC stakeholders in the FCT administration.

The letter highlighted the importance of fostering socio-political harmony in the FCT and called on the Minister to recognize the APC's role in his administration. It also raised concerns about recent appointments that seemingly favored PDP members over APC stakeholders, leading to tensions within the APC grassroots community.

Furthermore, the GYW appealed to the Minister to create a conducive environment for APC FCT stakeholders to participate meaningfully in the administration's activities, emphasizing their refusal to be sidelined in their own political domain.

The open letter concluded with a request for a prompt response from the Minister, with copies sent to key figures including the President, Vice President, Senate President, Speaker of the House of Representatives, National Chairman of the APC, and other relevant stakeholders.

The APC Grassroots Women and Youth Organization's letter underscores the importance of political inclusivity and representation at the grassroots level, urging the FCT administration to heed their concerns and take appropriate actions to address them.
