TINCAN AREA COMMAND ANNOUNCES MAJOR SEIZURES AND REVENUE GROWTH 


...Highlight Efforts to Combat Illicit Activities and Enhance Revenue

 



The Tincan Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) held a press briefing today to showcase its recent achievements in combating smuggling and boosting revenue generation. Led by Superintendent of Customs NN Okwara, the briefing shed light on significant seizures and revenue growth recorded by the command.


Revenue Performance:

The Tincan Area Command reported a remarkable revenue collection of N240,302,743,023.47 from January 2024 to date. This figure reflects a substantial increase compared to the corresponding periods in previous years, demonstrating the command's commitment to enhancing revenue generation while facilitating legitimate trade.


Breakdown of Revenue:

- January 2024: N88,430,126,122.72

- February 2024: N100,399,354,887.71

- March 1st - 13th, 2024: N42,473,262,013.00






Enforcement and Anti-Smuggling Activities:

The Tincan Area Command's anti-smuggling efforts have been relentless. Notably, the command seized:

- 12 rifles and 6 pistols

- 100 rounds of 9mm live ammunition

- 23kg of heroin

- Various other illicit items including electronic appliances, household goods, and used clothing.




Appreciation and Recognition:

Superintendent NN Okwara expressed gratitude to the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adeniyi MFR, and the NCS management team for their unwavering support. He also commended the dedication of all officers and recognized the collaborative efforts of the Customs Intelligence Unit (CIU), Customs Police, Enforcement Unit, and sister security agencies in achieving these milestone 


The Tincan Area Command remains committed to its mandate of safeguarding the nation's borders, combating smuggling, and facilitating legitimate trade. The command reaffirmed its determination to maintain the momentum in revenue generation and enforcement activities, contributing to national security and economic development.
