APAPA CUSTOMS SMASHES REVENUE RECORD, SURPASSES 2023 FIGURE BY OVER 100%

Apapa Customs Smashes Revenue Record, Surpasses 2023 Figures by Over 100%

The Apapa Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has achieved a remarkable feat in revenue collection for the first quarter of 2024, surpassing the figures from the same period in 2023 by over a hundred percent. Total revenue collected amounted to an impressive N489,614,095,022.15.

Comptroller Babajide Jaiyeoba, Customs Area Controller (CAC) of the command, attributed this success to the collective efforts of officers and port stakeholders, emphasizing the importance of sustained compliance by both government and private sector stakeholders.

Jaiyeoba highlighted the critical role played by the Apapa Command in working towards the NCS's annual target of N5.7 trillion for 2024. He stressed the attainability of the nearly N2 trillion target set for the command through strict adherence to customs regulations and procedures.

Expressing gratitude to officers for their diligence, Jaiyeoba underscored the benefits of compliance, including the recently launched Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) program. He urged all port users to prioritize compliance, which he noted comes with multiple benefits, including smoother and faster cargo clearance processes.

The CAC reaffirmed his commitment to engaging stakeholders regularly to sustain the momentum of achievements and consolidate gains. Looking ahead to the second quarter, he expressed confidence in further improving revenue collection, facilitating trade, and combating smuggling activities.
