Popular Nigerian crossdresser and social media sensation, Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, has been apprehended by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The arrest took place at Pinnock Estate in Lagos State on Wednesday afternoon, April 3, and Bobrisky was subsequently detained at the EFCC's Lagos command office.

Confirming the arrest, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale stated that Bobrisky was arrested for alleged currency mutilation and abuse of the Naira, adding that he would soon face charges in court.

"He is with us. We arrested him over currency mutilation and abuse of the Naira. He is in our facility in Lagos state," Oyewale affirmed.

Meanwhile, in a recent development, Bobrisky has provided insight into his journey from crossdressing to contemplating transgenderism. He revealed that his initial foray into crossdressing was driven by a marketing strategy during his undergraduate days at the University of Lagos, where he sold unisex clothing.

Speaking in an interview with veteran entertainer Charly Boy, Bobrisky expressed surprise at how his crossdressing persona gradually led him into the realm of transgender identity. This revelation comes amidst ongoing debates about the legality and societal acceptance of crossdressing in Nigeria.

Despite previous assertions by the Force Police Public Relations Officer that there is no specific law against crossdressing in Nigeria, Bobrisky's recent arrest underscores the complexities surrounding gender expression and legal boundaries in the country.
