PASSING OF OLUKUN, IKUN-AKOKO, HRM PASTOR MICHAEL ADEDOYIN OLOKUNBOLA JP

Announcement: Passing of Olukun of Ikun-Akoko, HRM Pastor Michael Adedoyin Olokunbola, JP










It is with profound sadness that the Ikun-Akoko Progressive Union, representing the people of Ikun-Akoko in Akoko SouthWest Local Government Area of Ondo State, announces the peaceful transition of the Olukun of Ikun-Akoko, His Royal Majesty Pastor Michael Adedoyin Olokunbola, JP, who joined his ancestors on January 23, 2024, at Lagos University Teaching Hospital after a brief illness. He ascended to the throne on May 10, 2003, and ruled for twenty years and eight months.


In adherence to the customs and traditions of Ikun-Akoko, which stipulate that all traditional rites be concluded within three months of the passing of the Olukun, a formal announcement of his transition was made on Tuesday, April 23, 2024.


The family, in collaboration with the Odeolukun Ruling House and the entire community, has completed all traditional rites befitting of the late monarch within the stipulated timeframe.


HRM Michael Adedoyin Olokunbola will be fondly remembered for his exemplary leadership and numerous developmental projects that uplifted the community during his reign.


As we mourn the loss of this esteemed leader and pillar of unity, we humbly request your prayers for his immediate family, the Odeolukun Ruling House, and the entire Ikun-Akoko community.


A celebration of the life and times of the late Monarch has been scheduled for Saturday, May 4, 2024, and the Government of Ondo State, as well as all well-wishers, are cordially invited to pay their respects.


In order to ensure continuity, the Odeolukun Ruling House has, in accordance with traditional requirements, appointed Princess Bolanle Deborah Jacob as the Regent of the Olukun of Ikun-Akoko on Tuesday, April 23, 2024. The Akoko SouthWest Local Government of Ondo State has been duly informed of this succession.
