APC Caretaker Chairman Accuses Rivers State Governor of Plotting to Stifle State Assembly Functions

In a press briefing.  Tony Okocha, the Caretaker Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, accused Governor Siminalayi of planning to obtain court injunctions to obstruct the State House of Assembly from carrying out its duties.


Okocha emphasized the importance of implementing the 8-point deal, highlighting concerns about the non-conduction of local government elections, which he deemed as a violation of Rivers State laws and a disrespect to the President.


Meanwhile, Governor Fubara responded to criticisms regarding the implementation of the Presidential Peace deal, stating that his acceptance of the agreement should not be misconstrued as weakness. He reiterated his commitment to the peace initiative while cautioning against misinterpretation of his compliance as a sign of vulnerability.


The political tensions in Rivers State continue to escalate, indicating a prolonged struggle for power and governance.
