Speaking at the launch of Nigeria's Digital Economy Report themed 'Driving Economic Growth through Digital Transformation' in Abuja, Mrs. Bella Disu, the Executive Vice Chairman of Globacom, reiterated the company's commitment to enabling tech advancement and supporting the Federal Government's digitalization agenda.

"We see the current challenges in the sector as a responsibility to be at the forefront of enabling tech advancement," said Mrs. Disu. "We are doing two things that align with the Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy's strategic blueprint."

Mrs. Disu outlined the company's initiatives under the pillars of Knowledge and Innovation. She highlighted plans to launch four innovation hubs, with the first hub set to be rolled out in Lagos in the fourth quarter of the year, followed by hubs in PH, Ibadan, and Abuja by the second quarter of 2025. These hubs aim to create an ecosystem for tech enthusiasts, entrepreneurs, incubators, and accelerators to collaborate, thrive, and learn.

Discussing the impact of digitalization, Mrs. Disu emphasized its transformative effects across various sectors. She noted significant growth in ride-hailing services, e-commerce, and the adoption of digital payment solutions, highlighting the opportunities for remote work, entrepreneurship, and start-ups in the digital economy.

"We believe that with the right training, more Nigerians can take up lucrative roles in the sector," Mrs. Disu stated, affirming Globacom's commitment to supporting the digital economy.

The Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, and the Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Dr. Aminu Maida, commended Mrs. Disu for Glo's efforts in driving digitalization. Dr. Tijani emphasized Nigeria's potential to play a critical role in a connected economy and stressed the importance of digitalizing key sectors to improve economic efficiency and drive development.
