Lagos Police Arrest Man for Forging Magistrates’ Stamps and Impersonating Officer

Detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department SCID of the Lagos State Police Command have apprehended Charles Chukwudi, a 48-year-old man, on charges of forgery and impersonation.

The arrest followed a meticulous investigation into Chukwudi’s issuance of counterfeit court documents to unsuspecting members of the public. During the arrest, police discovered forged official stamps belonging to Chief Magistrate Admin C/M Adeola Olatunbosun of Chief Magistrate Court I Yaba and Magistrate A.B. Ajiferuke of Magistrate Court Epe. Additionally, a fake police identity card and a photoshopped passport photograph of Chukwudi in a police uniform were found in his possession.

The investigation was initiated after court officials noticed the fraudulent activities and reported them to the police. Chukwudi was apprehended on the premises of Tinubu Court, Lagos Island, on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, and has since been arraigned.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin, Police Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Command, confirmed the arrest and subsequent arraignment.
