DIG Sylvester Alabi Urges South-West Police Officers to Enhance Professionalism in Combating Crime

The Deputy Inspector-General of Police DIG  for the South-West region, DIG Sylvester Alabi, has called on police officers to uphold professionalism in their efforts to combat kidnapping and other criminal activities in the area. This directive was issued during his recent visit to the Ondo State Police Command in Akure.

DIG Alabi's visit was prompted by instructions from the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, who mandated all zonal DIGs to evaluate the security situations in their respective zones. Addressing the officers, Alabi emphasized the importance of engaging community and religious leaders in the fight against crime.

"Fighting crime in the South-West has seen positive results, but there is a need to double our efforts," Alabi stated. He stressed the necessity for police officers to constantly reassess and adapt their strategies. "Policing is not a tea party. It is a very serious, tedious, and mentally challenging job that requires critical analysis of situations," he added.

Alabi underscored the critical role of police officers in ensuring public safety, urging them to remain vigilant and not become complacent despite the South-West being one of the more peaceful regions in Nigeria. "It's time for you to double your efforts and ensure that incidents of kidnapping and armed robbery become things of the past," he said.

The DIG's visit and address highlight the ongoing efforts by the Nigerian Police Force to strengthen security and maintain peace in the South-West region, reinforcing their commitment to protecting the lives and properties of citizens.
