GOVERNOR AYEDATIWA ADDRESSES NIGHT CLUB OWNERS FOLLOWING EFCC RAID IN AKURE

Governor Aiyedatiwa Addresses Night Club Owners Following EFCC Raid in Akure

Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, convened a meeting with night club and hotel owners in Akure on Sunday after a recent raid by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission  EFCC

During the weekend operation, EFCC officers targeted several establishments, arresting 127 individuals suspected of involvement in internet fraud. The anti-graft agency claimed the operation was based on intelligence reports about 'Yahoo Parties' being hosted at these venues.

The affected owners reported significant damage to their properties, alleging vandalism by EFCC operatives. In response, Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed his sympathy for the losses incurred and advised the owners to document the damages to facilitate their claims with the appropriate authorities.

Acknowledging the EFCC's mandate to act on credible intelligence, Governor Aiyedatiwa stated that while suspects must answer for any wrongdoing, innocent individuals should pursue redress. He assured that he is in communication with top security agencies to obtain accurate reports and pledged to intervene where necessary.

The night club owners appreciated the Governor’s swift response and clarified that they had no intention of protesting the incident.

The meeting at the Government House included Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Saka Yusuf Ogunleye; Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Pastor Segun Ayerin; and Hon. Tajudeen Adefisoye (Small Alhaji), a former member of the House of Representatives and a night club owner.
