EDO GOVERNORSHIP ASPIRANT RETURN TO SCHOOL

Edo Governorship Aspirant Returns to School: Okpebholo Enrolls in Adult Education

In a surprising move ahead of the September 21 Edo State governorship election, Monday Okpebholo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, has reportedly enrolled in an adult education program to enhance his knowledge in basic subjects. The enrollment form, shared by Twitter influencer Harry Chidi, quickly went viral, sparking widespread discussion on social media.

Okpebholo has signed up for classes in Mathematics, English, and Social Studies at Ladewin Adult Education in Jabi, Abuja. The application, dated June 10, 2024, reveals that Okpebholo, born on August 29, 1972, holds a Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) and last attended Liberty Comprehensive College in Jos, Plateau State.

This unexpected step by the APC candidate appears to be a strategic response to recent criticisms regarding his public speaking skills and reluctance to engage with the media. The adult education classes aim to bolster his communication abilities and knowledge base, preparing him for the upcoming governorship debate scheduled for later next month. While some express surprise at a governorship candidate seeking such basic education, others see it as a commendable effort to self-improve in readiness for public office.
