Nigerians Must Be Purged of ‘Emilokan’ Spirit, Lower Food and Fuel Prices to Prevent Protests - Primate Ayodele

...Says Nigerians Must Be Purged of ‘Emilokan’ Spirit.

In a recent interview on Sunday, July 28, 2024, Primate Elijah Ayodele, leader and founder of INRI Spiritual Church, called on the Nigerian federal government to immediately reduce the prices of foodstuffs and petroleum products to avert a looming protest. He also emphasized the need to purge Nigerians of the ‘Emilokan’ spirit to achieve peace, stability, and development.

Primate Ayodele stressed the urgency of the situation, advising the government on measures to calm the public. “What you need to do is crash the prices of foodstuffs immediately, don't waste time, crash the price of petrol—that is two. Provide electricity 24/7. All these infrastructures will create employment, but the employment will not be realistic without affordable essentials. Bring more food—rice, garri, beans, indomie—reduce their prices, and also reduce the price of petrol.”

He highlighted his previous warnings about potential protests. “I have warned the government since September 2023 that if they continue the way they are going, there will be protests. Don't take this protest for granted.”

Primate Ayodele dismissed notions that the protests are ethnically motivated, stating, “I don't see this protest being from Igbo, Hausa, or Yoruba. Everybody is angry. I have a simple formula to settle these troubles, but this government does not believe in God; they believe in their own ideology.”

He criticized the idea of invoking Oro, a traditional ritual, to manage the protests, calling it a recipe for anarchy. “Bringing Oro into the protest is tantamount to anarchy. Oro is not the answer; it will bring destruction. Those thinking about Oro are thinking below expectation. Consulting with traditional rulers will not provide the answer; it is a waste of money.”

Addressing the ‘Emilokan’ spirit, Primate Ayodele warned of its deep-rooted implications. “If you allow these things to escalate, it will turn into something else. Even people close to you, some of your relatives, will join the protest. The land is angry, the founders of this great country are angry, and this protest is part of the ‘Emilokan’ thing. If they don't have a solution to it, even local government autonomy will face issues. Nigeria is sitting on a time bomb. If there is no cleansing of the ‘Emilokan’ spirit, Nigeria will suffer.”

He concluded by predicting that the upcoming protest will not be the last. “This is not the end of protests. What will happen is beyond what the government has foreseen. They believe it is simple; the social media is not simple. It is just moments ahead of the nation. In terms of security, they are not addressing it.”

Primate Ayodele also commented on the new minimum wage. “The implementation of wages is still an issue. Some states will not be able to handle it; they have a lot on their plate.”
