NIJ's Entrepreneurship Center Transforms Education, Fostering Innovation and Excellence Among Graduates

The Entrepreneurship Development Center at NIJ has revolutionized the educational approach, ensuring that students not only gain theoretical knowledge but also practical skills that foster creativity and professionalism.

This unique blend of education has empowered graduates to excel and innovate in their respective fields, making significant impacts on Nigerian society.

The Nigeria Institute of Journalism (NIJ) has firmly established itself as a cornerstone in the media landscape, consistently nurturing professionals who excel in various fields. Over the years, NIJ has produced distinguished alumni who have become renowned figures in journalism, public relations, and other sectors. This success is largely attributed to the institute’s adoption of the Entrepreneurship Development Center, which serves as a dynamic medium for skills acquisition and job creation.

One notable alumnus is Korede Bello, a celebrated singer, songwriter, poet, and mental health advocate. Bello, who graduated in 2017, founded the Korede Bello Initiative, leveraging the skills and knowledge gained at NIJ to advance his multifaceted career and philanthropic efforts.

Rotimi Oladele, another illustrious graduate, obtained his advanced certificate in public relations in 1985. As a former president and chairman of the council, Oladele's contributions to the field of public relations and education are testament to the institute’s commitment to excellence.

Ola-Abraham Emmanuel, CEO of Owambe Clothings, has transformed the fashion and agriculture sectors in Nigeria. With an HND in 2011 and a PGD in 2015 from NIJ, Emmanuel's journey highlights how the institute’s entrepreneurial focus nurtures innovative leaders.

Oluwatoyosi Ogunleye, the former editor of Punch Newspaper and current head of language service (West Africa) at BBC World Service, is another shining example. Graduating with a PGD in print journalism in 2012, Ogunleye's illustrious career underscores the institute's role in producing top-tier media professionals.

Bishop Dr. Joseph Ighalo, a distinguished alumnus who studied public relations at NIJ, extols the institute's comprehensive and evolving curriculum. Describing NIJ as the premier professional institute in Nigeria, he recently enrolled his daughter at the institution, confident in its ability to equip her with the necessary skills for a successful career.

“If you want to be a professional in marketing, media journalism, or public relations, then you can't play with NIJ,” Dr. Ighalo remarked, emphasizing the institute's unparalleled influence.

The Nigeria Institute of Journalism continues to be a beacon of excellence, its Entrepreneurship Development Center a pivotal force in shaping the future of media and beyond. As the institute fosters creativity and professionalism, it remains a vital incubator for Nigeria’s next generation of media giants and innovators.
