AIG HONORS IGP EGBETOKUN DURING FAREWELL CEREMONY

AIG Durosimi Honors IGP Egbetokun During Farewell Ceremony

Just Retired Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Olatoye Durosimi recently paid tribute to Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun with the unveiling of a grand podium at the Zone 2 Police Command Headquarters in Onikan, Lagos. The occasion marked AIG Durosimi's retirement after 35 years of dedicated service to the Nigeria Police Force.

The pull-out ceremony, attended by high-ranking police officials including Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Martin Nwogoh, served as a platform for AIG Durosimi to call for significant reforms within the police force. He stressed the urgent need for enhanced government investment in police funding, training, and equipment.

“The Federal Government must prioritize the welfare of both serving and retired personnel,” Durosimi asserted. “Current conditions are inadequate and need immediate improvement. Adequate amenities should be provided to ensure the health and longevity of our officers.”

Durosimi also urged the public to support law enforcement efforts, recognizing the crucial role of police in maintaining national safety. He highlighted the need for advanced technologies to improve police performance and address concerns expressed by officers returning from international assignments.

Expressing gratitude to his mentor, Tafa Balogun, and IGP Egbetokun, Durosimi described his police career as a series of invaluable opportunities. He praised IGP Egbetokun's contributions to the force, emphasizing that the podium—designed to honor the IGP—would serve as a lasting tribute to his efforts.

The ceremony was part of a series of events celebrating Durosimi's retirement, which included a parade at the Ikeja Police Command and a grand finale party at the Island Club.
