Kano State Erupts in Violence on First Day of #EndBadGovernance Protests


Kano State witnessed a wave of violence and unrest today as groups of hoodlums, posing as participants in the nationwide #EndBadGovernance protests, attacked several establishments. The incidents, which began around 10:00 AM, have prompted swift action from the Kano State Police Command to restore order.





Key incidents include:


- Attacks on Supermarkets: Several supermarkets in Nassarawa Quarters were vandalized, resulting in significant property damage and looting.





- Arson at NCC Office: Multiple vehicles at the NCC office, located in the Audu Bako Secretariat near Government House Kano, were set on fire. The blaze was quickly extinguished through the prompt response of emergency services.



In response to these events, the Kano State Police Command arrested 157 suspects connected to the disturbances. Authorities also recovered an AK-47 rifle at the High Court and a substantial quantity of looted property from those apprehended.


To curb further violence and protect residents, the Kano State Government has imposed a 24-hour curfew. The situation is being closely monitored, and the police remain committed to maintaining peace and security across the state.
