Kano State Government Imposes 24-Hour Curfew Amid Violent Protests
In response to escalating violence and widespread looting, Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has imposed a 24-hour curfew, effective immediately. The decision comes after protests in the state turned violent, resulting in the vandalism of public property and the looting of businesses.
Governor Yusuf expressed deep concern over the situation, condemning the actions of those who have hijacked the peaceful protests. "I am deeply dismayed by the actions of some individuals who have hijacked the ongoing protests in Kano State, resulting in the vandalism of public property," he stated. While affirming the right of citizens to express their grievances, the governor emphasized that destructive behavior would not be tolerated.
To ensure the safety of lives and property, Governor Yusuf has directed all security agencies in the state to enforce the curfew strictly. He warned that any individuals or groups found causing trouble or engaging in violent activities would face decisive action. "This administration will not tolerate any actions that threaten the peace and stability of our great state," the governor asserted.
The curfew aims to restore order and prevent further destruction as the government seeks to address the concerns of the public while maintaining law and order.
