In a concerted effort to promote environmental sustainability and public health, the Osun Classic Lions Club and Osun Esteem Lions Club, in collaboration with the Nigerian Red Cross, Osun State Chapter, held a joint service activity titled *"A Clean Environment and a Healthy Me"* at Alekuwodo Market, Olaiya Area, Osogbo.
The outreach focused on cleaning the market area, distributing essential cleaning materials, and raising awareness about cholera prevention. Market vendors and attendees received brooms, dustpans, and other cleaning supplies, while also being educated on cholera causes and preventive measures to help mitigate health risks in the community.
The initiative was led by the Joint Service Activities Committees, including Lion Moses Adewuyi, President of Osun Esteem Lions Club; Lion Hon. Adegoke Yomex, President of Osun Classic Lions Club; Lion Shakirat Adegoke, Service Activity Chairperson for Osun Classic; and Lion Sunday Obelawo, Service Activity Chairperson for Osun Esteem. Distinguished Lion Leader and immediate past Region Chairperson, Lion Yeye Hajia Toyin Adesoye, and past Zone Chairperson, Lion Kazeem Akofe Lasisi, also played key roles in the event.
Lion Yeye Toyin Adesoye addressed the market participants, emphasizing the importance of a clean environment for public health. Mr. Ogunleye Tolulope, Secretary of the Nigerian Red Cross, Osun State Chapter, provided valuable insights on cholera prevention.
In his closing remarks, Lion Moses Adewuyi expressed gratitude to the market leaders, vendors, and fellow Lions for their participation and support. He highlighted the clubs' commitment to serving the community and making a lasting impact.
The event underscored the Lions' motto, *"Service First, Creating a Lasting Impact,"* as they continue to champion initiatives that improve the quality of life in their communities.
