Osun Classic and Osun Esteem Lions Clubs Empower Youth with Digital Skills on International Youth Day

In a remarkable initiative commemorating International Youth Day, the Osun Classic and Osun Esteem Lions Clubs jointly organized a Digital Skills Acquisition program, titled "From Click to Progress," aimed at empowering the youth of Osun State. The event, held on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at the Royal Spring Hotel and Holiday Inn in Osogbo, brought together over 100 young participants eager to develop their digital skills.

The training, which ran from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, offered hands-on experience in Computer Programming/Coding, Photography/Editing, and Data Analysis. These areas were chosen to equip the youth with the relevant skills needed to thrive in today’s digital world. The initiative, driven by Lions International’s commitment to community service, was designed to provide the youth with practical skills that could open doors to employment and entrepreneurial opportunities.

The event was orchestrated by the Joint Service Activities Committee, which included prominent Lion Leaders such as Lion Moses Adewuyi, President of Osun Esteem Lions Club; Lion Hon. Adegoke Yomex (NLCF), President of Osun Classic Lions Club; and Lion Yeye Hajia Toyin Adesoye (NLCF), Immediate Past Region Chairperson.

Lion Yeye Toyin Adesoye addressed the participants, emphasizing the purpose of Lionism and the far-reaching benefits of acquiring digital skills. She highlighted how these skills are essential in bridging the gap between the youth and economic opportunities, emphasizing the Lions Clubs' dedication to fostering sustainable development within the community.

Additionally, four participants interested in Photography/Editing were enrolled for further learning opportunities, ensuring that the skills they gained could be deepened and applied in real-world scenarios.

The event, driven by the theme "Service First, Creating a Lasting Impact," showcased the Lions Clubs' ongoing commitment to youth empowerment and community development. Through such initiatives, they continue to create meaningful opportunities for the younger generation, embodying the Lionism motto: "We serve."
