In a bid to enhance the efficiency and professionalism of its operations, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has commenced a 3-day comprehensive training program for its officers. The program, which started today at the LASTMA Headquarters, is designed to equip officers with advanced skills in traffic management and public relations, as well as stress management techniques.

Hon. Sola Giwa, Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, formally launched the initiative, emphasizing the importance of improving service standards for Lagos residents. The training covers a wide range of critical areas, including:

- Diplomatic Enforcement: Techniques for maintaining order on the roads while fostering positive relationships with the public.

- Stress Management and Wellness: Practical strategies for coping with the high-pressure nature of traffic management.

- Ethical and Professional Excellence: Promoting integrity and professionalism in traffic operations.

- Collaborative Team Synergy: Building stronger teams to enhance productivity and service delivery.

- Effective Communication: Developing clear and impactful communication skills for dealing with the public.

- Emotional Intelligence and Empathy: Encouraging officers to use emotional intelligence in managing conflicts and engaging with the public.

One of the key sessions, led by Navy Captain Akinyemi Samuel, a renowned expert in stress management, focuses on teaching officers how to handle the mental and physical demands of their job effectively.

Hon. Giwa highlighted that the Lagos State Government is committed to the continuous professional development of its workforce. "The training of LASTMA officers is crucial in ensuring smooth traffic management and delivering excellent service to motorists across the state," he said.

Since the beginning of the year, over 3,000 LASTMA officers have received specialized training in various aspects of traffic management, reinforcing the agency’s dedication to operational excellence and public safety.

This latest training initiative reaffirms LASTMA's mission to keep Lagos moving efficiently, while also ensuring the well-being and professional growth of its officers.
